Mrs Ruth Quek is a Registered Nurse, Certified Midwife and also completed a Trauma Surgery Course in Birmingham, UK. She obtained her post-graduate degree from University of Wales Swansea in Health Care Management in 1998.
Her working experience had been with the private sector for more than 30 years. She was the Deputy Director of Nursing from 1983 to 1993 at the then American Hospital, now the Parkway East Hospital. In 1993, she took on a new role and headed the Quality Management Department for Mount Elizabeth Hospital and Parkway East Hospital. In the same year, she the developed and implemented the Hospital Occurrence reporting mechanism for both Hospitals. Besides overseeing the hospital occurrence reporting system and she was also active in the Quality Assurance programs.
In 2001, she oversees the newly set up Clinical Safety and Risk Management (CSRM) Department under the umbrella of the Quality Division. The Department is responsible for handling clinical related complaints, conduct investigations, family meetings, and working with hospital’s insurer and lawyers in dealing with medico-legal claims.
